ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Dating back to his days at Sitka High School, many in the state of Alaska already knew Dylan Marx could make plays in a ballpark. But after this weekend, Major League Baseball knows that as well.

Playing in front of pro scouts at this weekend’s Alaska Baseball League scout showcase, the soon-to-be sophomore at Feather River College in California took advantage of the opportunity. Finishing three for three at the plate with a RBI triple in the Glacier Pilots Saturday exhibition against the Anchorage Bucs, Marx also stepped onto the mound in the closing innings as a relief pitcher.

“It means a lot,” Marx said following the game. “Hopefully it helps further my career and hopefully they see some of that. It just felt good to get out there and play a game and preform for them.”

Marx added that this isn’t just about him either.

“Coming from Sitka and going to college is kinda rare,” he said. When a kid gets a chance to go on and play at the highest level, it’s really cool for the town and to give back. Hopefully one day I can do that for Sitka.”

While Marx is still far from the impact he wants to have, the former Sitka Wolf still had some words of encouragement for those at his alma mater.

“Just keep grinding and putting in the work,” he said. “If you put in good work, do good reps and all that, you can make it.”

Marx will remain with the Pilots until the ABL season concludes in August before returning to the Golden Eagles. In his freshman campaign, Marx appeared in 45 games, averaging .259 from the dish with 19 RBI’s and 47 runs scored.
