ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - For the fourth time in the family’s history, the Hajdukovich name will appear in a Seawolf box score.

Dimond’s Marek Hajdukovich officially signed on with the program on Tuesday, ensuring that his basketball career will continue in the state of Alaska.

“It feels really great. When you know you have a home next year, all the stress and anxiety goes away,” Hajdukovich said. “I’m ready for next year. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else.”

Marek now joins his parents, Michelle and Jim Hajdukovich, along with his sister, Jahnna, who all once played for the Seawolves.

“He grew up watching his older sister play at UAA, so he always got to see the games,” Jim said. “He knew coach [Rusty] Osborne was my coach when I was there.”

“I feel blessed and honored to add to that legacy and add my own little twist on it,” Marek said.

His parents were a part of the women’s and men’s teams in the late 90s, while his sister’s era was a bit more recent. She finished her time in green and gold in 2023 after arriving on campus in 2018.

“When I was training to go to UAA, he was right there hanging out with us,” Jahnna said.

The signing comes after the 6′2″ guard finished his career with the Lynx with over 1,000 points scored. With his help, Dimond finished as the champions of the Cook Inlet Conference this past season, a team he will continue to follow now that he plans to stay in the area.

“I’m gonna be around town, so I’ll still be able to pop in for games and see my old teammates and I’ll even be joining one of my teammates, Luke Johnston,” Marek said. “Nothing’s too far away from me.”
