Career class at Grace Christian with Chief Meteorologist Melissa Frey
Melissa Frey shared with the 8th-graders what it’s like to be a broadcast meteorologist
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Grace Christian School in Anchorage invited Chief Meteorologist Melissa Frey to speak with their eighth-grade career students for insight into what it’s like to be a broadcast meteorologist.
At the beginning of class, Melissa asked each student what they wanted to be when they grew up. Their answers were impressive — everything from pilots to biologists, designers to lawyers, and — yes, even meteorologists.
The students asked fantastic questions about college and what they can do now even in middle or high school to prepare for the future. They were also curious about the different employers that hire meteorologists.
Melissa encouraged the students to consider a career that uses their talents and interests and to not be afraid of finding something they love and are passionate about.
By the end of class, Melissa said a few more students said they might consider a career in meteorology or broadcasting.
