Homer Spit Road closed, outbound lane eroded

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Homer Spit Road is closed at Kachemak Drive, according to the Alaska Department of Transportation.
Saturday winds coincided with high tide and eroded the outbound lane of the road, the Homer Volunteer Fire Department said on social media.
The road is expected to reopen at 6 a.m. Sunday after the situation is re-assessed, according to the Homer Volunteer Fire Department.
The fire department said more damage is possible during the next high tide, which is expected around 2:30 a.m.
