Two Kenai Peninsula schools closed Monday, many others on two-hour delay

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District has announced two schools will be closed Monday, Jan. 13, and 17 others will be on a two-hour delay.

Cooper Landing School and Hope School will be closed, according to the school district.

The schools that will be on a two-hour delay are: Aurora Borealis Charter, Kaleidoscope Charter, K-Beach Elementary, Kenai Alternative School, Kenai Central High, Kenai Middle, Mountain View Elementary, Nikiski Middle/Senior High, Nikiski North Star Elementary, Redoubt Elementary, River City Academy, Skyview Middle, Soldotna Elementary, Soldotna High, Soldotna Montessori Charter, Sterling Elementary and Tustumena Elementary.

According to the district, bus pick up times will also be two hours later than normal, and AM and PM sessions for special education PreK are cancelled.

The district also said parents and guardians can call the school to get an excused absence for their students if they choose to keep them home.
