Creek Cleanup begins in Anchorage
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - It’s time to clean up waterways. The Anchorage Waterway Council is starting its annual Creek Cleanup this week.
The council organizes the cleanup every May, where they bring together hundreds of volunteers from different businesses around the city to clean any trash from local streams and waterways.
The council says this is to help beautify and protect these habitats and ensure the wildlife stays healthy.
“People are already kind of looking. They’re seeing other folks cleaning the creeks, and they kind of want to get involved. This is just one more way for them to just step into that with all the resources. And it’s a great way for companies to get together and it’s good, you know, community kind of building experience for folks.”
This is the 41st annual cleanup. Details about the groups helping out and locations can be found here.
