FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTUU/KTVF) - On Saturday, the University of Alaska Fairbanks celebrated the graduating class of 2025 which included 1,228 graduates, according to the University.

The Carlson Center was packed for the 103rd commencement for UAF, which honored those that received certificates and degrees alike.

First generation student and class speaker Kyle Banning spoke to the challenges of going through college and how the community at UAF helped him and his classmates reach commencement.

“With the communities we have built and the compassion we have experienced here in UAF, we will welcome these challenges with confidence,” Banning said. “There are moments that pull us down and send us down paths we should never travel, but then there are the groups and clubs and classes with the people that just get us and accept us for who we are.”

During commencement, two graduates of the Reserve Officer Training Corps also took their oath of office which was led by Brigadier General Thomas Burke of the 11th Airborne Division.
