ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A Wasilla man accused of sexually abusing two children in 2022 pled guilty on Wednesday in a Palmer courtroom.

The guilty plea came before closing arguments this week in the trial of 34-year-old Scott Anthony Pezzini.

Pezzini pled guilty to two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and one count of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor.

On Dec. 26, 2022, Mat-Com Dispatch received a call from someone reporting Pezzini as a “sexual predator” in their house, according to court documents from 2023.

After responding to the house and speaking with Pezzini and others, he was taken away by troopers to “stay somewhere else.”

Troopers later learned the alleged abuse took place on Dec. 15, 2022 and further investigation resulted in Pezzini being taken into Wasilla police custody on Jan. 5, 2023.

Pezzini had worked as a substitute teacher in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District from October 2020 through December 2022.

Court documents did not indicate any connection between Pezzini’s employment with the school district and the alleged crimes.

According to the Department of Law, evidence was shown at trial that Pezzini sexually abused the two minors when they were seven and nine years old, respectively. Both children testified during the trial, and Pezzini himself admitted to his conduct to the children’s families and state troopers, as well as on the stand during the trial.

Pezzini could face up to 85 total years in prison, depending on sentencing rules on his charges — 25 to 35 years on each count of the first-degree charges and five to 15 on the second-degree charge.

His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 5 this year, according to the Department of Law.
