ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A woman died after being hospitalized in a shooting in Davis Park in Anchorage’s Mountain View neighborhood Thursday morning.

Anchorage Police Department said in a dispatch that a homicide investigation is underway and no one has been identified as a suspect. Police added that they don’t believe there is any threat to public safety.

The department later identified the woman as 31-year-old Haily Ibarra and called the incident isolated, saying they don’t believe there is a danger to the public even though her killer has not been caught.

Officers were called to the 5100 block of Mountain View Drive on reports of a shooting just before 8:30 a.m.

Police said an adult woman was found with “trauma to the upper body.”

Police officers were observed by reporters working around a known homeless encampment in the area.
