Palmer man arrested, indicted months after deadly Wasilla crash
PALMER, Alaska (KTUU) - A Palmer man was indicted on May 8 for a deadly Wasilla crash in January.
A Palmer Grand Jury indicted Casey Lorencz, 28, on two counts of manslaughter, two charges of criminally negligent homicide, reckless driving, and driving under the influence on Thursday.
Lorencz was located by Wasilla police and taken into custody on May 10, months after he was taken to the hospital after a crash that involved his car and an SUV.
Alaska State Troopers say at 3:39 a.m. on Jan. 18, a Ford Sedan driven by Lorencz was moving at a “high rate of speed” on Hollywood Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at Vine Road.
The sedan then stuck a Chevrolet SUV traveling southbound on Vine, killing 35-year-old Mark Carroll, who was riding as a passenger in the SUV. The driver of the SUV was treated at the scene.
Lorencz was held Saturday at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial facility on a $60,000 bond.
