Roadtrippin’ 2024: Shirley’s Northern Lights Gourmet Ice Cream! So tasty!
TALKEETNA, Alaska (KTUU) - Shirley’s Northern Lights Gourmet Ice Cream is famous for its homemade fireweed ice cream, as well as other flavors!
Shirley got the fireweed recipe 15 years ago from an Alaska Native while visiting Chitina. She won’t reveal the secret, but it does have fireweed in it!
As you’ll see, Shirley is a happy soul who has never met a stranger. She’s just so friendly, and is an advocate of her little town of Talkeetna.
Shirley is no stranger to food service, she has sold everything from hamburgers to hot dogs, and even bakes her “Big Ole” cinnamon rolls!
Be ready to put down a little cash to get some tasty and unique Alaskan fireweed ice cream, and be ready to take a picture in Shirley’s Ice Cream Cone! Making great memories and even better ice cream!
