TALKEETNA, Alaska (KTUU) - Mountain High Pizza Pie in Talkeetna just celebrated 21 years in business.

Owner Todd Bosilone, who affectionally calls his labor of love the Purple Pizzeria, says he started making pizzas when he was just 14 years old and has continued to hone his craft in a bit of an unconventional way — by selling his pizza pies at Grateful Dead concerts in the 1980s!

His Italian roots and persistence paid off when a burned building became available in Talkeetna in a prime location in the early 2000s. With a burnt building — and admitting he was a bit broke — Todd pushed ahead and rebuilt, and with the help of a lot of friends, opened and hit the ground running.

His pies were an instant hit, and his passion and love of the community was reciprocated with repeat customers and year-round repeat business in a small tourist town.

Todd spends a lot of time at his business and is grateful for what the world has offered him and now what he has to offer, his pizzas.

His pizzeria has soared from the ashes and Todd can humbly say with a lot of work, luck, and a little help from his friends, he has earned his pizza wings.
