Jessie Holmes claims Copper Basin 300 victory
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Jessie Holmes crossed the finish line Monday to win the 2025 Copper Basin 300 near Glennallen.
Holmes, one of about 30 competitors in the Glennallen-based race, finished around 3:24 p.m. to claim his first victory in the race.
Holmes was tracked at the Chistochina Checkpoint (mile 240) around 6 a.m. Monday, with Cody Strathe leaving roughly 37 minutes later.
Strathe and Dave Turner were chasing Holmes in second and third place, respectively, having less than 50 miles to go on Monday afternoon.
Holmes finished the nearly 300-mile race in 2 days, 5 hours, 24 minutes.
The race began Saturday morning and features five checkpoints, spaced out every roughly 50 miles on the trail.
The awards banquet is set for Tuesday night.

Over the past two years, Holmes racked up finishes of third and second, respectively, in the Copper Basin 300. Last year, Holmes finished second to Brent Sass in the event.
Holmes is also a two-time defending Kobuk 440 champion, and a three-time winner overall, having won last year’s race weeks after finishing third in the 2024 Iditarod.
