ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Sled dogs take a well-deserved break at one of the checkpoints along the Iditarod trail.

The 53rd running of the Last Great Race began March 3 in Fairbanks — a change in the starting point due to low snow conditions further south — and consisted of 33 teams taking on a 1,128-mile route to Nome.
