ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Thirty teams left the Big Lake starting line to begin the 41st running of the Iron Dog and as of Thursday morning, just 18 remain.

Teams began departing the Nome checkpoint at 4 a.m., with race leaders Brad George and Robby Schachle from team 20 going first. They were followed soon after by teams 14, 6, and 9.

The lone pair, Team 8, Tyson Johnson and Tom Davis have scratched from the racer after a slew of mechanical issues hindered their arrival a few days prior.

As of 8 a.m., all teams have left Nome and are back on course with 1,021 miles left to go. The 2025 Iron Dog Snowmachine race concludes on Feb. 22.
