Jacoby preps for breaststroke finals at U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Seward’s Lydia Jacoby is one win away from making her second trip to the Olympic stage.
The two-time medalist at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games finished with the second-fastest time in her heat and the fourth-fastest overall in the 100-meter breaststroke on Sunday at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Indianapolis.
The rising junior at the University of Texas swam the out-and-back in the Lucas Oil Stadium pool in 1 minute, 6.66 seconds.
Finishing behind Lilly King (1:05.57), Kaitlyn Dobler (1:06.42) and Emma Weber (1:06.48), Jacoby now moves on to Monday’s finals.
Starting at 4 p.m. Monday on NBC and Peacock will be the women’s 400-meter individual medley, followed by (in order): men’s 200 freestyle, women’s 100 backstroke (semifinal), men’s 100 backstroke, women’s 100 breaststroke and women’s 200 freestyle.
A second Olympic berth for Jacoby will come with a first- or second-place result in the 100 breaststroke, the event in which Jacoby won gold three years ago.
The 2024 Paris Olympics begin next month.
