Roadtrippin’ 2024: Cruising the Inside Passage
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - After leaving Vancouver aboard the Silversea Silver Nova, we set sail north through the Inside Passage, the coastal route off the shores of Washington, British Columbia and Alaska known for its beauty and protected waterways. This was a full day at sea, and we ended up in the fog for much of it.
Cruise Director J.P. Almon takes care of making sure passengers have plenty of entertainment options onboard even when they can’t see the amazing Alaskan scenery.
“My primary job really is to oversee all the entertainment onboard, so I schedule all of the entertainment-related events,” JP said. “So different games that we have ... some are trivia, bingo, ping pong, shuffleboard, all those things which also are used to create experiences for the guests to meet each other.”
Because this is open water, the ship did rock a bit, but it helped a lot to have a private balcony outside of our stateroom where we could always get fresh air and see the horizon.
In the evening, there is a different show in the ship’s theater each night, music in the lounges — and karaoke for the brave!
