No current threat to Alaska after 7.0 earthquake near California triggers tsunami warning
The M7.0 earthquake struck shortly before 10am AKST

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The National Tsunami Warning Center has canceled a tsunami warning for Oregon and California, following a magnitude 7.0 earthquake off the coast of California.
The earthquake which was at a depth of 8 miles occurred 42 miles east-northeast of Ferndale, California.
There is currently no threat to Alaska.
The tsunami warning was in effect for the coast from Davenport, California to the Oregon/California border. This does include San Francisco Bay. For Oregon, the warning was in effect north to Douglas/Lane Line, Oregon.
Tsunami activity was forecasted to start shortly after 10 a.m. AKST this morning for these areas.
