ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - One of Anchorage Police Chief Designee Sean Case’s priorities is building more trust within the community.

One of the ways the public can better get to know the police department is through its “coffee with a cop” event.

Anchorage police caught up with members of the community over coffee Thursday for its latest get-together.

the long-running event offers the public an opportunity to meet with officers and dogs in training while learning about what’s new with the department.

Thursday’s event was held at the Kaladi Brothers Coffee Shop on Jewel Lake Road.

One officer there told Alaska’s News Source what he thinks of Case taking the helm of the department.

“Chief Case has been with the department for years,” Sgt. Matthew Hall said. “I remember him teaching me when I was in the academy when I first started, so I’ve got nothing bad to say about Case. I’m excited about the changes that are coming.”

Coffee with a Cop is a recurring event. For those who missed Thursday’s meetup, the next one will be held in September.
