Revamped Taku Lake Skatepark opens to public
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Anchorage Park Foundation and Anchorage Parks and Recreation unveiled the newly revamped Taku Skatepark on Sunday.
The new in-ground park at Taku Lake features Alaskan designs and elements such as an inlaid Big Dipper and whale tail-shaped bowl.
APF and Parks and Rec say is not only the newest but the largest skatepark in Anchorage.
Michelle LeBeau with the Anchorage Parks Foundation says they’ve received a lot of excitement from the local skateboarding community and beyond.
“We hear from the roller derby community that they’re very excited about this new facility,” LeBeau said. “Scooters, BMX biking and inline rollerblading can also be used at this park.”
The Taku Skatepark is located at 8200 Stormy Place.
