Anchorage Police investigate shooting in Sand Lake
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Anchorage police are investigating a shooting in the city’s Sand Lake neighborhood.
Shortly after 2:40 a.m. Monday, officers responded to reports of a shooting near the 8900 block of Jewel Lake Rd.
Responding officers found a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his midsection.
According to APD, the man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the suspect, 25-year-old Malcom Thomas, ran from the scene before officers arrived, but was later found near the 1900 block of Lore Rd. and taken in for questioning.
Thomas is charged with several counts of assault, third degree misconduct with a deadly weapon, three counts of reckless endangerment and tampering with evidence.
