FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTUU) - Fairbanks police say one of their sergeants is physically OK after a now-arrested DUI suspect rammed their car during a 30-minute chase from Fairbanks that ended in North Pole.

Police said after a citizen called them about the suspect, Alayna Betcher, 34, possibly driving under the influence, Betcher fled when they attempted to talk to her.

During the chase, police said she drove into oncoming traffic multiple times and several drivers had to avoid being hit head-on.

Police said they used a PIT maneuver — which involves law enforcement causing a car to abruptly turn to force it to stop — to catch Betcher.

Betcher was arrested on multiple charges including DUI, felony eluding, third-degree assault, and her outstanding warrants.

More charges, police say, could be filed.
