“I got to practice with them recently and I just loved how they were all so warm and welcoming,” Sapon said. “I feel like they’ll be great leaders to me and I can learn a lot from them.”

As an Anchorage native, Sapon says she grew up watching the program.

“I loved going to their games, as many as I could,” she said. “Now I get to watch more volleyball and participate in a division that I’ve always dreamed of playing.”

Standing at 5 feet, the 2024 Class 4A All-Tournament selection finished her senior campaign with 1,019 digs, 78 aces, and 94 assists — stats that helped her earn an honorable mention for the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American team.

Sapon did all of this while maintaining a 3.48 GPA in the classroom, according to a Gatorade Player of the Year release. Sapon now says she is sitting above a 3.5 GPA.

Sapon is another part of what has turned into quite the pipeline between the Lynx and Seawolves. the 2024 UAA roster featured two Dimond alumni in Larssen Anderson and former GPOY selection Kadyn Osborne.

“There are a bunch of Dimond players who have joined their program and it’s flourished. I’m so happy to be a part of that,” she said.

Sapon is set to join a Seawolves team that finished 16-12 overall in 2024. Alaska Anchorage last won the GNAC Championship in 2022.
