ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A former Palmer High School football player is returning to the Pacific Northwest

Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu, who transferred to out-of-state Liberty High School after one year with the Moose, signed a reserve/future contract Monday with the Seattle Seahawks, according to a team announcement.

Aumavae-Laulu joins a Seattle roster that includes fellow Alaskan Brandon Pili, who signed to the Seahawks practice squad after being released by the Miami Dolphins earlier this season.

Aumavae-Laulu grew up in Palmer and played at Palmer High during his freshman season before he and his family moved to the Las Vegas area. Starting in 2017, Sala played two seasons at Navarro College, a junior college outside Dallas. Sala then transferred to the University of Oregon, where he played in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season and 2021 and 2022 seasons.

In his last year with the Ducks, Aumavae-Laulu earned an All-Pac-12 honorable mention.

Drafted by the Baltimore Ravens with the 199th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Aumavae-Laulu went on to appear in two games during his time in Charm City.

Barring a release, Aumavae-Laulu will compete for a spot on Seattle’s 53-man roster later this summer.
