ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - There is a backlog of criminal court cases in Anchorage that include dozens of homicides — last year, the number was more than 100 — and hundreds, if not thousands, of misdemeanor court cases, some stemming back to 2007.
Anchorage Daily News and ProPublica journalist Kyle Hopkins has documented hundreds of cases that have been dropped this year and reports that the backlog is partly to blame.
