KENAI, Alaska (KTUU) - Raised in Eagle River, Alaska, Clayton Holland began his education career in 1995. And for the last few years, Holland has served as the superintendent of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District.

In a recent interview, Holland talked about his drive to improve the district after the pandemic created issues for the 42 schools spread across the peninsula.

Holland touched on the district covers a big area that requires district employees to ”do it all.”

“I think what makes us different is that, and then we are focused on trying to provide opportunities,” Holland said. “We can’t consolidate things like an Anchorage or Fairbanks where you can bring programs to one spot, play the same way that they can, so we have to be innovative in different ways.”

He added the first day of school, which is Aug. 21 this year, is his most exciting day.
