Nancy Johnson reflects on 43-year career at Anchorage’s KTUU-TV
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - KTUU’s general manager Nancy Johnson retired on Friday from a decades-long career in radio and television.
Johnson was hired as a salesperson at KENI-TV in 1981, which turned into KTUU-TV that same year. She went on to serve in numerous station roles in the decades since, including marketing director and general sales manager.
She was promoted to GM in 2017.
In 2020, Johnson was inducted into the Silver Circle of the Northwest Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), which recognizes outstanding media professionals.
Johnson sat down with Alaska’s News Source’s Nolin Ainsworth and Quinn White on Friday to reflect on her time at KTUU, her passion for community-based journalism, and what advice she would give to young people entering the industry.
